One word for 2012

I’m a long-time lurker, first time follower of the “one word” new year’s resolution phenomenon. Not one to join a bandwagon, I was skeptical of the whole thing, and will probably remain so until the end of 2012, when I see how my one word choice plays out.

I stumbled on my “one word” by accident.

Rather, I believe it stumbled upon me.

The word rolled into my head like a tumbleweed in the middle of a barren desert (which is the current landscape of my mind). So hopeful, so out-of-the-ordinary, so delicious was the word that I embraced it, tucked it into the side of my desert duster jacket, and ran with it into the sunset . . . or maybe that was a sunrise.

But before I ran, I looked it up in the dictionary.

My one word is:

FRUITION.

fru·ition

noun frü-ˈi-shən

Definition of FRUITION

1 : pleasurable use or possession : enjoyment

2 a: the state of bearing fruit

b: realization

Thankfully, the word has three meanings, which satisfies my multi-tasking, ADD, unfocused mind.

Without further ado, I’m tumbling in to 2012 with the goals of:

1) Enjoying life by being grateful (Romans 8:28-29), even in the midst of difficult times

2) Bearing fruit for my Savior Jesus Christ, whether through loving my husband and family well, the words I pen, or through whatever circumstance crosses my path (LOVE The Message Version of Galations 5:22-23!)

3) Realizing the advancement of my writing through publication and finishing a third novel (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Here am I.

Go God!

Do tell!

What’s your one word for 2012?

  1. I like your choice of word!! Be fruitful in all you do and what ever your hand finds to do, may it be with joy and bring happiness to those you touch. Bearing precious fruit with joy!

  2. Mine is “productive”. I think too much about what I want to do, intend to do but the perfectionist in me causes me not to act because I dont have all the answers beforehand.
