Small but quite mighty Clara Lemlich makes a cameo appearance in my new novel, Miracle at the Sideshow. A Ukrainian immigrant who escaped pogroms much like my protagonist Sophie, Clara was an irreplaceable force for the labor movement. Her efforts led to many improvements in worker safety.
